4-step curly hair routine!

Tips and tricks

It's hard to find the right routine for curly hair. The key is finding the right products to reveal the beauty of your curls naturally. Curly hair is naturally dry. In fact, its shape doesn't allow sebum to spread evenly along its entire length. For beautiful, bouncy curls all day long, it is important to find the right hair routine for your curl type.

1: Preparing your shampoo

1: Preparing your shampoo

Pre-shampoo is a very important step in a curly hair routine. It's the time to deeply nourish your curls. During this stage, you can use a vegetable oil bath for intense nourishment. The oil bath fortifies hair to prevent breakage, adds suppleness and shine to make dull hair silky. It seals in the moisture needed by natural frizzy to curly hair.

Nourished hair will be much more supple and the curl much more defined. You can choose sheathing oils that will help you fight frizz and better define your curls:

- Broccoli Oil

- Avocado oil

- Hibiscus oil

- Baobab oil

If you're not into oil baths, try powder-based treatments. Lalo powder or Marshmallow powder are perfect for curly hair. They coat curls and prevent frizz.

2: Wash your hair

Next, it's important to wash the scalp with a mild shampoo. Shampooing removes impurities from the scalp, excess product and dead skin. It's important to bear in mind that this is a sensitive stage, as some shampoos can be harsh on your hair. Sulfate-based shampoos can be very aggressive, weakening the hair. Choose the most natural shampoo possible to avoid damaging the lengths, and use masks after shampooing to nourish and protect your hair.

You can also absorb excess sebum with cleansing powders such as Rhassoul, or dry shampoos :

- Volumizing Powder Shampoo

- 100% natural white kaolinite clay

- Rice powder, a gentle, mattifying and absorbent treatment

These techniques allow you to space your shampoos as far apart as possible to avoid stressing your hair and curls. Curly hair needs to be washed no more than once a week.

After shampooing, it's time to detangle. Detangling balm is a must for curly hair, as it gently removes even the most stubborn knots.

Dry your hair naturally with the soft Bamboo Towel, ideal for drying curls without breaking or creasing them.

2: Wash your hair

3: Moisturize your hair

Once hair is clean and shampooed, it's important to moisturize. Moisturization is the secret to well-defined, bouncy curls. If your hair is well moisturized, curls will hold all day without too much effort. Poorly moisturized hair will encourage frizz and accentuate the straw effect. You can apply a moisturizing mask after shampooing.

How do I know which ingredients are moisturizing?

It's important to distinguish between nourishing and moisturizing ingredients.

For nourishment, you'll need to favor fats: vegetable oils, butters, etc. Moisturizing is done with ingredients naturally rich in water: Aloe vera, floral waters and vegetable glycerin mainly. You can also moisturize your hair with a cornstarch mask, fruit compote... all ingredients you can easily find in your kitchen.

Use Hair Care Base, rich in shea butter, aloe vera and vegetable oils. It's perfect for caring for your curls as an after-shampoo, mask or even leave-in.

Hair Care Base can be customized for optimal hydration by addingAloe Vera, Vegetable Glycerin or Vegetable Oils to seal in curl moisture.

If you have less porous hair, you can use a heating mask or simply a hot towel. This technique will open up the hair scales and maximize product penetration into the core of the hair.

And for shiny curls, make a rinse with 50% Hibiscus vinegar and 50% water.

4: Style and define curls

If you've followed our advice so far, you should already have curls on fleek, but to maintain those bouncy, shiny curls in all circumstances, there's one more step!

There are several techniques for styling hair and defining curls:

- Scrunch: From the word "scrunch" in English, this technique involves grabbing curls at the ends and pressing them up to the roots.

- Finger Coils: Redraw your curls with your fingers, shaping them as you wish. Curls can be tighter or looser, depending on what you want. It's a technique that involves wrapping your strands around your finger for added definition and volume control. Simply apply your styling products (dose according to your hair and desired result), then wrap the strands around your fingers. Apply a small amount of Soin Capillaire base to aid definition.

- Bowl method: Apply conditioner to your lengths and fill a bowl with clear water. Rinse your hair in the bowl, scrunching to define curls. Repeat the action several times until the product is evenly distributed throughout your hair. Do the same with Detangling Balm.

Finally, to set curls throughout the day, finish your style with Aloe Vera Gel. This will set the curl. If you don't like the "Gel" effect, scrunch once your hair is dry.

4: Style and define curls

With this routine, your curls will be plump and well-moisturized all day long! To refresh your curls after several days, simply dampen your hair with floral water before styling!
