Vinegars in cosmetics, how to use them?

Contrary to popular belief, vinegar is very good for cosmetics. We tend to fear its acidity, which can sometimes make us reluctant to use it even in cooking. But when diluted in water, vinegar is a fabulous ingredient for your homemade cosmetics.

How to use vinegar for hair?

Vinegars can be used alone or mixed with other products to create a DIY recipe. At WAAM, we offer 3 different vinegars:

- Hibiscus which is purifying, astringent, soothing and makes hair shine

- Nettle which is purifying, anti-oxidant and detoxifies oily scalps

- Lemon which is purifying, protective, hair beautifying and anti-blemish

To make hair shine

Vinegars are very popular with hair. They make it shiny by neutralizing the limescale present in our shower water. The natural acidity of vinegar tightens the hair cuticles, and its acidic pH helps reduce porosity and improve its appearance. After rinsing your shampoo with clean water, dilute 50% vinegar in 50% water for a final rinse. Your hair will be easier to detangle, shiny, and soft!

To stimulate hair growth

Always diluted in water, vinegar will be a real ally for your hair growth. The organic acids present in vinegars prevent the appearance of dandruff and allow for a healthier scalp, thus promoting hair growth. Use it as a scalp massage, in circular movements from the bottom to the top of the skull to further stimulate your blood microcirculation and thus allow optimal irrigation of the hair follicles. Favor cold water in your dilution, to stimulate microcirculation.

To protect colored hair

Contrary to popular belief, vinegar is a true ally for colored hair. Lemon vinegar protects colored hair. The naturally acidic pH present in vinegar helps close the scales and thus maintain the coloring pigments inside the hair. In addition, lemon is an excellent source of antioxidants, which helps prevent color oxidation, especially for blonde hair. It revives the shine of your blonde and prevents the color from dulling caused by limescale. Great, right?

In anti-dandruff serum

Vinegars, with their cleansing properties, help regulate excess sebum on the scalp and soothe itchy dandruff. The organic acids naturally present in vinegar prevent dandruff and promote a detoxified, healthier scalp, which promotes hair growth. Nettle vinegar is rich in antioxidants, protecting hair and scalp from environmental stress and premature aging. It's therefore ideal for use in hair lotions and serums!

And for the skin?

For a radiant complexion and purified skin

Vinegars are particularly recommended for oily skin with excess sebum. They help cleanse and purify the skin while toning it. Fruit acids also prevent pores from clogging due to impurities and excess sebum. Hibiscus vinegar is rich in organic and fruit acids that act as exfoliants and help even out the complexion and make it radiant!

For facial use: Do not use neat. Dilute 25% vinegar in 75% water in a bowl, apply with a clean cotton pad, then rinse with clean water.

Reduces the appearance of brown age spots

Many people want to fade their age spots for cosmetic reasons. There's no requirement, but if you want to reduce those dark spots, vinegar will help! Leave the vinegar on the spots for 30 minutes every day, then rinse.

It's not over yet!

As a natural deodorant

Vinegar has the power to change the pH of the underarms. It is said that it can rebalance the skin's pH and therefore help maintain healthy skin flora. Moisten a cotton ball with distilled vinegar and apply it to your underarms; this can help regulate excessive perspiration.

For a perfect manicure:

Ideal for making your nails shine or softening cuticles for a perfect manicure. Rub a cotton ball moistened with vinegar and water over your nails, leaving it on for longer for your cuticles.

As a preventative measure for lice:

Did you know that the smell of vinegar repels lice? If you use vinegar regularly, it will spare you this unpleasant company.

All you have to do is choose from our three vinegars!
