Native to Madagascar, it also grows in China and Japan. Ravintsara is a tree that can reach up to 15 meters in height. It is often found at altitudes of around 300 meters. Ravintsara flowers are yellow or white, tending towards green. It also produces around a hundred thousand seeds each year. These small berries resemble pepper. Its leaves are used as both a remedy and a flavoring by the local population.
