Makeup removal, an essential step in your beauty routine

Tips and tricks

Don't wear makeup? You don't have the time or you're lazy after a long day? So you don't cleanse your skin before going to bed... Ouch!

Contrary to popular belief, removing makeup from the skin is not just for makeup enthusiasts. In this case, makeup removal means cleansing the skin by removing impurities caused by pollution, residues and/or makeup on the skin.

Even when we're not wearing make-up, our skin is exposed to pollution, impurities, accumulated sebum and more. It therefore needs to be cleansed to stay clean, healthy and beautiful. We can't stress this enough: removing make-up is an essential step towards beautiful skin.
By going to bed with clogged skin, you expose yourself to the risk of even more rapid skin ageing. What's more, impurities and other residues will pile up on your skin, clogging pores and encouraging the appearance of pimples, blemishes and other undesirable elements.

Facial skin can be sensitive and needs to be cared for very gently. It should neither be overloaded with products, nor neglected. All skin types need to be cleansed without being aggressed, whether normal, combination, oily, dry, sensitive... What's more, clean skin receives and absorbs the skincare products you apply much more effectively. So whether you're wearing make-up or not, we advise you not to neglect this essential beauty step...

Cleansing your skin with natural products is not only possible, it's very simple. First of all, turn to vegetable oil. Some people would immediately think that oil is unsuitable for this type of cleansing because it's too oily...

If you have combination to oily skin, you're probably thinking that it's not for you... Well, think again! Vegetable oil is highly effective at this stage of make-up removal. It's a greasy substance that easily removes impurities and make-up, even waterproof make-up!
The greasiness of oil absorbs dirt, sebum and make-up pigments more easily, but in no way greases your skin. There's no need to scrub and aggress the skin to get it clean. Oil-based make-up removal is suitable for dry, normal, combination and oily skins. All you need to do is choose an oil suited to your skin type.

Which vegetable oil is right for my skin type?

All vegetable oils can be used to remove make-up, but you can choose your oil according to your skin type. For oily skin, chooseJojoba oil, which absorbs excess sebum and reduces imperfections. It doesn't leave a greasy film on the skin, and will even nourish it.

Coconut oil is especially recommended for sensitive, irritable and/or dry skin, or for eye make-up removal, but can be comedogenic.

Castor oil is renowned for its effectiveness against dark spots on the face and hands. Last but not least, you can also mix several vegetable oils to take advantage of their different properties and prepare your own personalized make-up removal oil. Why not try Camelina oil (perfect for sensitive and reactive skin), Linseed oil or a dry oil such as Sesame oil?

How do I apply it?

Removing make-up with oil is very simple. In the evening, apply a few drops of oil in a circular motion to your face, using a sponge, cotton pad or pre-washed hands. Finish by rinsing your face with clear water.

Perfect make-up removal with floral water

You've just cleansed your face with oil and your skin is now clean. The next step is to perfect your cleansing with a floral water.

Use a cotton pad to apply Cucumber floral water for a refreshing effect,Chamomile floral water orDamask Rose floral water. Gentle and pleasant-smelling, floral water removes the last impurities from the skin, soothes and moisturizes. All in a very gentle way.

To apply, simply use a reusable make-up remover wipe or a washable cotton pad. Finish by rinsing your face with lukewarm water, or cold water if you're feeling brave!

And that's it! Your skin is now perfectly cleansed and moisturized, and you can continue with your skincare routine (serum, cream, oil, etc.)

Unfortunately, simply running water over your face isn't enough to remove all the impurities and grease from your pretty face.
Using an oil or floral water may be effective, but not enough to cleanse the skin.
However, there are effective alternatives to help you achieve this key step in your cleansing routine.

One of these is called double cleansing (layering).
This technique involves cleansing the skin in two stages. In the first stage, impurities and make-up are removed using a greasy substance (such as oil or balm).

In the second stage, we finalize the cleansing of the skin to remove the last residues, using a cleansing gel and/or cold-saponified soap. You can use the gentle cleansing gel base or make your own DIY cleansing gel.

For example, you could opt for a DIY recipe for an anti-blemish face wash.

What is a milky oil?

It's an oil that both cleanses and moisturizes the skin. First, the oil removes impurities from the skin. Then, in contact with water, it becomes a cleansing milk that cleanses the skin.

Finally, it maintains skin hydration while leaving a light, silky, non-greasy finish.

Our milky oil base is essentially composed of sweet almond oil and also contains vitamin E.

Made from all-natural ingredients, it can be used on its own or mixed with vegetable oils, essential oils, active ingredients or fragrance extracts.

A few DIY recipes for removing make-up

For a cleansing milk for the face

If you don't like the oily texture of a make-up remover, you can make a DIY cleansing milk. This will give you a milky, nourishing product. This type of make-up remover is ideal for more sensitive skins requiring gentle make-up removal. You can add your choice of plant oils or essential oils if you wish.

Finish with a floral water, always applied with a reusable cotton pad, if you prefer to remove residues of moisturizing milk from your face. Or simply rinse with clear water.
