How to take care of your skin in winter?

You probably won't have missed the fact that winter is here, and these temperature changes are taking their toll on our skin. It's drier, feels dehydrated, and feels tight...

Here are some tips for taking care of it, avoiding dehydration and getting through the winter with peace of mind.

In winter, we say no to crocodile skin

Hydration, the basis!

If you find yourself drinking less water in winter, rest assured, many of us have noticed this. We feel less need to drink because it's cooler, but our bodies need just as much, if not more, water than during other seasons. The cold outside combined with the warmth inside tends to make our skin drier.

Not drinking enough water during the day accentuates this phenomenon of dry and dehydrated skin.

Proper hydration begins with the internal system. To soothe your skin, start by drinking enough water throughout the day (1.5 to 2 liters per day).

You can also consume infusions if you have difficulty drinking in winter.

To hydrate your skin's surface, opt for moisturizing milks . They will provide the water it needs, enhance it, and relax it. Check the ingredients to make sure water comes first.

Moisturize your skin several times a day if necessary. If you feel it tight, it means it needs hydration.

Nutrition, the anti-cold shield

In winter, sometimes, hydration isn't enough to protect your skin from drying out. To maintain this moisture, nourishing skincare is essential. It acts as a protective barrier against external aggressions and helps your skin stay hydrated longer. You'll feel more comfortable.

For added nourishment, choose a butter (shea, coconut, cocoa) or a vegetable oil (or blend of oils) to apply alone or after your body lotion for drier skin.

Moisturizing and nourishing creams are also very effective at nourishing and protecting the skin from the cold in a single step. Also consider shea butter whipped cream , ideal for this period.

And what about the extremities in all this?

By extremities, we mean hands and feet . These are the parts of the body that suffer most from the cold. They are less irrigated by blood and therefore cool down more quickly. Therefore, they must be hydrated and nourished regularly.

We recommend that you always carry hand cream with you. Massage it into your fingertips whenever you feel the need. A good pair of gloves will help keep your hands soft and moisturized.

To care for your feet, as for the rest of your body, hydration and nutrition are essential. Apply the right treatment (milk, cream, butter, etc.), paying particular attention to drier areas like your heels. For a deeper treatment, apply shea butter to your feet and put on a pair of socks before going to bed.

We protect our face from the cold

As a part of our body that is directly exposed to the cold and external aggressions, the face requires special attention. No matter your skin type—normal, combination, oily, or sensitive—you must give it the care it needs.
Use gentle cleansing products . They will allow you to cleanse your face without altering your skin's natural moisture levels.
Next, rinse your face with water. You can use a water spray or floral water. This step is important, even in winter.

Once dry, apply your moisturizer or nourishing cream. Consider the eye area, which is a very thin and fragile part of the face. A little avocado or argan oil is enough to nourish and protect it.
Repeat these steps in the evening after removing your makeup. You'll wake up with soft, moisturized skin.

Lip care is also very important. In winter, they suffer from uncomfortable chapped lips and micro-cracks. Apply lip balm regularly, and for really damaged lips, a good layer of shea butter before going to bed at night.

As you've probably guessed, to get through the winter with peace of mind and protect your skin from the cold, hydration and nutrition are essential. Adapt simple routines so you don't get bored and admire the results on your skin. It will only thank you for it.
