Get through winter gently

A change of season is an opportunity to renew your skin, green your body, nourish yourself with positive thoughts... and enjoy the gentle rays of the sun even if the days are short.

Taking care of your skin

Winter puts the skin to the test, especially if it's sensitive. The cold, the wind, the rain, and the trips back and forth between a heated space and the freezing outdoors tend to weaken the hydrolipidic film. You can protect your skin by layering your skincare and makeup products. Under your day cream, apply a hydrating serum. Highly concentrated in active ingredients, it boosts the skin and saturates the skin barrier with water. Then choose a hydrating and protective day cream: rich in fats if your skin is dry, lighter for oily skin. Forget the impalpable gel textures we love in summer, which are far too light.

Makeup-wise, you can apply a little foundation, especially on your cheeks to protect your skin. Choose cream-textured eyeshadows because they won't dry out your skin. And apply a thick lip balm throughout the day, and at night before going to bed.

The body also needs all our attention. With the cold and friction from clothing, we have every chance of showing off crocodile skin. In the shower, we use a rich shower gel, enriched with nourishing active ingredients, or a shower oil. When leaving, on still damp skin, we massage ourselves with a vegetable oil , perfect for protecting and repairing the hydrolipidic film. We can also choose a sufficiently oily treatment, like a nourishing balm .

We rebalance our diet

Since the start of the school year and the second lockdown, stress and fatigue have been omnipresent. We can tend to forget about ourselves. Quick errands, last-minute pizza or sushi orders, and workouts that are too far apart won't help us regain a healthy lifestyle.

Get into a good rhythm by preparing a well-thought-out weekly shopping list with enough fresh fruits and vegetables to consume every day, prepared at home. Ideally, plan your meals in advance so you don't get caught short midweek and end up in a fast-food joint.

You can save time by preparing vegetables on the weekend (washing, peeling, cutting) and storing them in the freezer to preserve nutrients.

A detox day

Resting your digestive system for 24 hours can boost your energy. Take advantage of a quiet day at home, such as a Sunday, to consume only vegetable broths and soups, which have draining properties. Drink at least two liters of water throughout the day.

The liver, skin, and kidneys are relieved. In the following days, the complexion is clearer as the skin has eliminated toxins. The body's functions are boosted, which also promotes the growth and health of nails and hair.

Stock up on vitamin D

We know that it is essential for fixing calcium in the bones of young people, preventing osteoporosis in seniors and fatigue. However, 80% of the French population is deficient in vitamin D (SUVIMAX data). So from October to April, ideally, we take 5 drops of vitamin D every day (available in pharmacies).

When the weather is nice, the sun will take over. In fact, as an adult, it is enough to expose the face and forearms for 10 to 15 minutes to the sun, 2 to 3 times a week for the skin to synthesize enough vitamin D. We prefer the drop format to the "quarterly" ampoules of vitamin D, to ensure a constant level in the body.
