Certain foods will boost your body's natural defenses and help protect your skin. Eat carrots, sweet potatoes, oranges and clementines, mangoes, melons, apricots, and more. Foods rich in beta-carotene and nutrients also promote skin tanning by stimulating the production of melanin, which is responsible for activating tanning.
