It is part of the large Poaceae family, which contains at least 50 species. It is found in India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Brazil, Madagascar, and the Comoros. The leaves of this herbaceous plant are very long and sometimes reach 3 m in height. Palmarosa's flowers are very similar to those of geraniums.
