Adaptogenic plants: why should you adopt them?

You may have heard the word "adaptogen" thrown around a lot lately. But what does it actually mean? What is an adaptogenic plant used for?

Today we're going to explain the effects of adaptogenic plants on the body and why everyone is crazy about them...

What is an adaptogenic plant?

Adaptogenic plants are plants known to effectively combat stress and fatigue. They have been used in traditional Indian medicine (Ayurveda) for centuries. Primarily composed of trace elements, amino acids, and vitamins, they have invigorating properties and combat stress.

These plants are called adaptogens because they help the body adjust to combat stress and fatigue. Adaptogenic plants combat energy dips caused by physical or mental exertion.
Their action on the body is triggered when it is in a state of stress or fatigue. They will then assist it to regulate these parameters and restore balance.
These plants are not addictive or cause any long-term negative effects. They are completely healthy for the body.

How does it work?

Adaptogenic plants act on the body in a general way by increasing the body's overall resistance. They increase the body's ability to adapt to various environmental factors and avoid their negative effects.
To do this, they will regulate the production of cortisol, the hormone responsible for stress, in order to significantly reduce it. They will also strengthen weak immune systems and promote the production of serotonin (the hormone that produces the feeling of joy).

Immunomodulatory, they stimulate or reduce the immune system's reactions according to your body's needs. By strengthening your immune system, adaptogenic plants allow you to regulate your metabolism. Thus, your body is able to provide an adapted response to stress. These plants have a calming effect on stressed people, stimulating on people experiencing general or temporary fatigue. They literally adapt to provide you with what your body needs.

Finally, adaptogenic plants improve mood and reduce fatigue.

Rhodiola

This green-flowered plant was already recognized by the Vikings for its energizing effects on the body. It contains more than 140 active ingredients. It also tones and strengthens the body.
Rhodiola also helps improve digestive health (relieves irritable bowel syndrome) and combats low morale. It helps reduce stress and overwork.
In cases of fatigue, it facilitates recovery, prevents exhaustion, and increases endurance. A stimulant, rhodiola promotes good mood and improves overall well-being.

Ashwagandha

Originating in India, ashwagandha is also known as the plant that "regenerates and rejuvenates" in the Ayurvedic tradition. Its root is used because it contains numerous antioxidants and amino acids that are beneficial for the body. Ashwagandha facilitates relaxation for people experiencing stress or anxiety. Anxiety, depression, nervousness, fatigue, stress... ashwagandha helps fight all these ailments.

More surprisingly, this plant adapts to the body and its needs: Taken in the morning, ashwagandha capsules provide energy and vitality. In the evening, they promote restful sleep and combat insomnia. It is particularly stimulating for the body and restores energy to tired people.

Please note that ashwagandha is not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
