100% RECYCLED PLASTIC ON ALL OUR BOTTLES By the end of the year, all bottles will be made from recycled materials. Suppliers have been selected; all that remains is a few compatibility tests between the products and their containers. The only difference for consumers is that the bottles of vegetable oils and neutral bases will be slightly tinted. There won't be any noticeable difference in floral waters, as the bottles are already dark in color to protect the water from light. The goal is to also transition from jars to recycled PET containers by early 2021. REFILL FORMATS PRODUCTS At the beginning of 2021, the neutral bases, with their 400 ml bottles, will be available in eco-friendly flexible plastic refills (doypack), 100% recyclable, including caps, with a saving on the plastic used of around 70%. This is an important step, as our basics (shower gel, shampoo, cleansing oil, moisturizing milk, hair care mask) are hygiene products used daily, with a high repeat purchase rate. By the end of the year, our powders will also be available in doypack format. GLASS IN SMALL QUANTITIES Glass is recyclable, but it's heavy, which impacts the carbon footprint during product transport. With each product launch, we consider its use. We prioritize using it in smaller containers, which limits the environmental impact. Essential oils and perfume must be packaged in glass bottles to ensure their preservation. Our micas are also sold in small glass bottles. Aside from perfume, which is available in a 100 ml format, essential oil bottles have a volume of 10 ml and mica bottles weigh 3 grams. Across our entire catalog, the volume of glass used is therefore limited compared to plastic. EVEN MORE IDEAS FOR HOME RECYCLING We're always offering more DIY ideas on our website for reusing empty packaging. All our containers are reusable, including easily unscrewable caps. For example, 100ml bottles of vegetable oils are recommended for air travel. The same goes for our gift boxes, which are always made of wood and easy to repurpose once their contents are empty. OUR GIFT BOXES Whatever their format, wood, cardboard or cotton bag, they are reusable and recyclable. The leaflet (explanatory brochure) is made of recycled paper and printed with vegetable-based ink. ACTIONS IMPLEMENTED AT WAAM At WAAM, we strive to reduce waste on a daily basis. There are no plastic cups in our workspace; everyone brings their own water bottle or uses glass cups. In the restrooms, we have washable cotton towels for drying our hands; we've eliminated paper towels. And we use the printer when it's absolutely necessary, for example, to archive important documents. When it comes to cleaning, the products we use are natural and organic: our WAAM neutral hand wash gel, and white vinegar and bicarbonate of soda for cleaning offices and bathrooms. Our green plants are protected from midges and mealybugs with our neem oil, an excellent repellent.
