Storage Case

What can you do with an empty floral water bottle, a neutral base bottle, or any other bottle you have at home? If you're running out of ideas for reusing your old packaging, here's an easy and practical tip!

This storage case can be used by you or your children as a pencil case, you can also store beads, marbles or even your makeup brushes in it.

Necessary equipment

  • Your 400ml neutral base bottle
  • A piece of fabric (approximately 15x18cm for the bottle of floral water)
  • A pair of scissors
  • A hot glue gun (optional)
  • A cutter
  • String
  • Thread and a needle

Precautions

  • Before you start, remember to protect your work area well to avoid leaving glue marks or damaging your table.
  • Remember to clean your empty pot or container thoroughly before you begin.

The stages of the realization

1 - Start by thoroughly washing your empty bottle, remove the label (if you have difficulty removing it, do not hesitate to leave the container to soak in warm water or use nail polish remover to remove the last traces of glue).

2 - Cut the top of the bottle using a cutter. You can use a lighter to smooth and soften the edge once the cut is complete, if necessary.

3 - Cut a rectangle of fabric the size you want. Sew a seam along the top edge of the fabric to pass the cord or string through to close your case.

4 - Pass your cord through using a safety pin.

5 - Sew the two edges of the fabric (right and left) together to obtain a band that you can slip over your bottle.

Assembly

To assemble the fabric part and the bottle, two options are possible:

OPTION 1
Using hot glue.
Slide the band onto your bottle and glue it using hot glue for about 1cm to ensure the whole thing holds.

OPTION 2
Heat a needle with a lighter to make holes all around the top of the bottle you cut out.
Make the same holes in your fabric.
All you have to do is insert the fabric band around your bottle and pass your thread through the holes in the fabric and the bottle to secure the two together.
Your case is ready.
You can slip all your little treasures into it: pencils, felt-tip pens, beads, paintbrushes, toothbrushes or makeup brushes!

WAAM Tips

If you wish, you can then make pom poms from the same rope or wool and add them according to your taste.
You can adjust the height of your case as you wish by cutting your bottle more or less. Why not personalize your case/pencil case even more for your child?
You can embroider their first name or the word of your choice on the fabric.
