DRIED PLANT - KINKELIBA
Kinkeliba is known for its draining and diuretic properties on the body. Obtained from dried leaves, it is appreciated for its various effects. Among other things, it helps the body eliminate toxins and tone up. Kinkeliba leaf tea, also known as 'long life tea', is often used in slimming diets, as it is reputed to have draining properties that can facilitate weight loss.
Kinkeliba also acts on digestive disorders such as constipation.
It is also a natural anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial agent. In herbal tea, it can be used to relieve menstrual cramps and painful periods.
Native to West Africa, Kinkeliba has been used in traditional therapeutic medicine for centuries. An antioxidant, Kinkeliba is generally consumed in herbal tea form (infusion, decoction...) to take advantage of its many benefits. Kinkeliba tea can be enjoyed hot or cold. Kinkeliba leaf decoction can also be mixed with a fatty substance (butter, oil...) to make an ointment or liniment to soothe bruises and sprains.
For hair, its infusion can be used as a rinse water to leave hair moisturised, soft, and shiny. It is also sometimes used in the formulation of soaps.
The botanical minute
Kinkeliba grows mainly in Mali, Burkina Faso, and Senegal. This shrub belongs to the Combretaceae family and generally measures between 2 and 4 metres. Its distinctive feature is that its leaves turn yellow late and only fall in February.
