Thyme is an aromatic plant originally native to the Mediterranean basin, where it grows as a small, bushy shrub around 30cm tall. This plant is particularly fond of dry, sunny areas, which is why it can be found in so many parts of the world. It is generally harvested in late summer. There are some 350 species.
