The botanical minute

Scots Pine, with its remarkable height of almost 50 metres, is distinguished from other conifers by the colour of its bark. When young, its bark is grey, but as it ages, it takes on an easily recognizable russet colour. Speaking of colour, its needles are bluish-grey. Unlike other conifers, they are pointed but flexible and therefore not prickly.
