MOROCCAN RHASSOUL
Purifying, clarifying, and softening!
Originating in Morocco, where it is extracted from a unique quarry on the edge of the Middle Atlas mountains, around 200 km from the town of Fez, Rhassoul has been used for centuries by Oriental women to gently cleanse and care for their hair and skin. Even in the Middle Ages, it was traded throughout the Orient.
The Arabic word ' Rhassoul ' means 'to wash', as this clay is saponifiable, i.e. it contains large quantities of natural foaming saponins. Its cleansing action is totally different from that of shampoo or soap. Instead of chemically modifying the surface tension of water (=tensioactive), Rhassoul's cleansing action is purely physical.
Rhassoul has the lowest aluminum oxide and calcium oxide content of all clays. This unique characteristic makes it ideal for mask-making.
Rhassoul is suitable for all skin types: oily, dry, irritated, normal, sensitive, reactive, etc. It deeply cleanses the skin, without aggressing it. It eliminates all impurities, particularly blackheads caused by sebum.
Rhassoul emulsifies naturally with water, absorbing impurities and excess sebum without attacking the skin's protective lipid film.
Rhassoul is also indicated for dry, devitalized hair, dandruff, and scalp irritation. It does not attack the hair's protective sheath. Known for centuries for its cleansing and purifying properties, this clay is also ideal for oily scalps, for which it absorbs sebum and gently cleanses the hair without damaging it. Hair regains shine, suppleness and tone.
