Make your hair transition in 5 easy steps!

Tips and tricks

First of all, let's start at the beginning. What do we mean by hair transition? Ultimately, it is a change you want to make in the tools and products you use for your hair. Let's take a look at the best practices to adopt for a successful hair transition!

Indeed, a large proportion of shampoos, conditioners and hair masks are composed of a multitude of ingredients, often very unnatural. Originally developed using petrochemicals, these so-called "conventional" ingredients are often controversial. Also, to manufacture them, these chemical ingredients consume a lot of water and heat, and are highly polluting. The same applies, of course, to hair coloring and straightening products. In short, these products have many drawbacks. We also talk about hair transition when we want to stop using straighteners, curlers and other heated brushes, tools that use heat to modify the shape of the hair. More and more people are deciding to go natural, for a variety of reasons: hair health, hair beauty, eco-responsibility, the discovery of new, more effective alternatives to meet needs and other issues - there's something for everyone!

Why make a hair transition?

Why make a hair transition?

Switching from "conventional", chemical products to natural products is not a seamless transition. And the same applies to stopping using heated styling tools. In the end, it's a more or less lengthy period, during which the hair and scalp are detoxified, purified of all those chemicals used for years. Silicones, parabens, sulfates, perfumes, colorants, texturizing agents, preservatives... all these ingredients take time to be eliminated from our hair's surface, and our hair also needs time to adapt to new natural products. It's a stage we have to go through if we want to go green. A hair transition is recommended if you want to get back to your hair's "true" nature. Curls, frizz, shine, length, color, thickness... once again, there are many reasons to do so. If you want healthier, healthier hair, going natural is highly recommended! However, it does require a little patience to see the desired results. But don't worry, we'll show you how.

Steps to follow :

step 1 in your hair transition: cut and define your new healthy routine

Observe your hair and try to analyze its condition and what it has been through. If your hair is very damaged and/or split, it's best to cut it. Indeed, it's very difficult to regain healthy, strong hair if it's been bleached, straightened, heat-burned and/or brittle, for example. Cutting the ends is therefore highly recommended. Then stock up on all the natural, healthy products you'll need for your new routine: shampoo, conditioner, mask/care and styling products (aloe vera gel, plant oils, active ingredients, essential oils... it all depends on your hair's needs and therefore its nature).

step 2 of your hair transition: clarification

We need to rid the hair fiber of all the chemicals it has accumulated over time. It's like a kind of make-up remover that removes silicones and other chemical agents still present on the hair despite shampoos.

To achieve this:

Apply clay-based masks (green, white or red, depending on your hair type) to the entire scalp, lengths and ends. Mix a little clay with water to form a paste. Wet your hair beforehand, without washing it, and distribute the clay paste. Leave in for 15-30 mins, but don't let the paste dry out, as this could dehydrate your hair. Then wash with your shampoo. Apply the Hair Care Mask, detangle with the Detangling Balm and proceed with your usual styling routine.

You can also use the Detoxifying Hair Care recipe with Hair Care,Jojoba Oil and Moroccan Rhassoul to rid your hair of impurities and restore its shine. Use this mask several times a month to restore your hair's natural shine.

Rinsing with vinegar is also recommended to facilitate detangling and add shine. This clarification can be done every 2/3 shampoos for around 2 weeks. Always remember to moisturize and nourish your lengths when styling, with products suited to your hair type and nature (smooth, curly, frizzy, dry or oily). Hair Care Base is ideal for nourishing and moisturizing all hair types. Find out HERE how to customize your Hair Care Base to suit your needs.

Also, space out shampoos to avoid drying out hair and stimulating sebum production. Between 2 washes, you can use powders such as rice powder as a dry shampoo, to remove grease from the roots.

step 3 in your hair transition: protective hairstyles

First and foremost, forget about using heated tools to style your hair: straighteners, curlers and so on. To keep hair in good condition and protect it from damage, use protective hairstyles: braids, chignons, ponytails, vanilles, turbans...there's something for every taste and hair type. You need to protect your hair with these protective styles at night to avoid tangles, and especially on vacation, at the beach, in the pool or simply in the sun, to protect it from external aggression. Learn to appreciate your hair's true nature by enhancing it: better curl definition, vegetable oils to coat frizz, etc.

step 4 of your hair transition: stimulate growth and good health

Don't forget that hair grows from the scalp, and that a healthy, varied diet is essential for healthy hair. Also remember to moisturize well.

Massaging the scalp with or without natural products (vegetable oils, essential oils, plant powders...) can also stimulate growth and help the scalp to oxygenate better.

Stimulate growth on the scalp, but continue to moisturize and care for the lengths and ends, without drying them out. Moisturization always precedes nutrition.

step 5 of your hair transition: keep up the good work!

The hair transition may take a little time, but it's worth it! Your hair will be all the better for it, and you'll be better able to show off its true nature! You'll regain length, thickness and shine!
