Interview with Healthy And Girly

Newspaper

Healthy and Girly, or Sarah for short, offers advice and tips on her blog and social networks. Her content covers beauty, health, food, and lifestyle...
Today, she tells us about her favourites natural cosmetics and reveals a few tips ;)

First of all, here's some info about Healthy and girly and its beginnings in beauty advice.

I've been on Instagram since 2014. In the beginning, I shared little tips focused on health and nutrition. Having changed my lifestyle myself, it was very important for me to share these little tips.

When I started, there weren't many French-language Instagram accounts that addressed this topic. That's how I got started on social networks.

First of all, here's some info about Healthy and girly and its beginnings in beauty advice.

HOW DID YOU END UP USING NATURAL COSMETICS? DID YOU MAKE A TRANSITION OR WAS IT RADICAL?

I didn't go gradually at all. I mean, it's not as if I threw out all my products and went natural overnight! I replaced my shampoos with natural shampoos, my skincare products with plant oils and so on. Little by little, I changed my whole routine.
Whether it was for my hair or my skin. In any case, I did as I felt fit, little by little, without pressure!
It's worked out really well for me.

WHAT ARE YOUR CURRENT BEAUTY FAVOURITES?

What are your current beauty favourites? For me, it'sCarrot oil! It gives me a healthy glow. I even use it all year round, directly on the skin. In the evening, for example, I mix it with a day cream. I also use it in summer to prepare the skin for tanning.

My other current favorite is WAAM shampoo, which I've been using for a long, long time. Since giving birth, I've started to personalize it to stop my pregnancy-related hair loss. I've continued to use this shampoo withgrapefruit essential oil andlemon essential oil, also from WAAM.
I'd even say they're essentials rather than favorites... They're really indispensable for me!

WHAT ARE YOUR FIRST BEAUTY STEPS IN THE MORNING?

My first beauty step in the morning is always, always, always a floral water!
In the morning, I simply wipe a floral water over my face with a reusable cotton pad.
Then I apply a vegetable oil to my skin.
From time to time, I also add a little vegetable oil to my day cream.

Floral water + plant oil in the morning really is the perfect combo!

YOUR MOST MULTITASKING PRODUCT (COSMETIC SWISS ARMY KNIFE)?

Ah yes, the famous Yuzu Shea Butter! I always have some at home.
I use it when my lips are dry. I also use it on my body, hair and face.
When my hands or feet are really dry, I use it every night, with a sock.
When I was pregnant, I used it on my belly to prevent stretch marks.
It's perfect for winter and even for summer: when you have little areas that peel, for example. Yuzu Shea Butter is really the first styling product I used to shape my curls. I use it all the time.
It really is a multitasker. People around me steal it from me too!

IF YOU FOUND YOURSELF ALONE ON A DESERT ISLAND AND COULD ONLY TAKE ONE BEAUTY PRODUCT WITH YOU, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

I think it would be, I'm going to repeat myself again, but Yuzu Shea Butter! You can do anything with it. It can be your cream, your hair care...
Plus, I love the smell of Yuzu, I've become addicted to it!

3 GOOD HABITS TO ADOPT TO PRESERVE YOUR BEAUTY FROM AN EARLY AGE?

The first thing I think is really important is to remove your make-up and cleanse your skin every day. Pollution and other factors mean that your skin will age faster if you don't cleanse it every night. You have to remove all those pollution residues and so on.

The second, I think, would be facial massage. I think it's even more important than the skincare product itself. If you don't take the time to make it penetrate, the result won't be the same. I've seen this with my dark circles, for example. They're very, very pronounced, and since I've taken the time to massage my eye contour for two or three minutes every day while applying my skincare product, I can see the difference!

My third gesture would be to use a skincare product or scrub depending on your skin type. I do it when I feel she needs it. I've got to know my skin and I can sense when it needs a scrub or a moisturizing mask, for example.

A NATURAL PRODUCT YOU USE FOR YOUR CHILD?

That would be Yuzu Shea butter too. I use it for myself as well as for him. It's great for skin and hair. It's really super effective.

I also use Calendula oil on my child. I put a little on his hair after the bath. There's nothing better!

A HEALTHY AND GIRLY TIP FOR NATURAL BEAUTY?

I have a little trick I like to use that's really super simple to do. I love coffee-based body scrubs, they're really the most effective. I take coffee grounds directly into my hand and add shower gel on top. Voilà, my little scrub is ready! All that's left to do is rinse off with lukewarm or cold water.

It really does speed things up and is very practical. Plus, coffee has many benefits for the body. It fights cellulite and nourishes and firms the skin. What's more, coffee grounds are great for unclogging sinks, bathtubs, etc. and preventing odours ;)

WHAT PRODUCTS WOULD YOU RECOMMEND FOR A WOMAN WHO WANTS TO START TAKING CARE OF HER SKIN AND DOESN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT?

I'd advise her to start with a vegetable oil, depending on her skin and what she's looking for. She can buy two or three vegetable oils to start with, and then replace all her soaps etc. with natural products. You'll find plenty more choice on the WAAM website, with descriptions of all the benefits of each oil.
