How to use Lalo (Baobab leaf powder)?
If you've been wanting to use this superb powder but are a little confused, we'll tell you why you should make lalo part of your beauty routine and how to use it.
Before you start: There's a difference between Baobab powder and Baobab leaf powder (Lalo). The latter is also called Lalo in Wolof (Senegalese dialect). Baobab powder is obtained from Baobab fruit, while Lalo powder is obtained from Baobab leaves. Baobab powder is white in colour, while Lalo powder is green.
Used in Senegal as a binder in cooking, it is appreciated for its jelly-like texture.
Properties of lalo
Lalo is a powder rich in benefits...and vitamins such as vitamin C. It also contains numerous nutrients such as calcium, zinc and amino acids. Calcium is known to aid growth; used in hair care, it promotes the development and health of the hair fiber. Minerals such as iron help repair and strengthen hair deep down. Zinc has a purifying effect on acne and pimples.
Lalo powder can be used by everyone, but is particularly recommended if you have dry skin and/or hair, or curly or frizzy hair. In fact, this powder will nourish skin and hair prone to dryness. In addition to making up for this lack of nutrition, it will help maintain moisture levels.
As a hair care product, lalo makes hair supple and considerably facilitates detangling. So it's your best friend if you have hair that tangles easily and needs to be detangled patiently and gently.
Baobab leaf powder is also reputed to help control frizz thanks to fixing polysaccharides, and to define curls by making them light and bouncy. It also has a sheathing action on the hair fiber.
Finally, lalo is appreciated for its gel-like texture when diluted in water. Here's how to use it.
