The botanical minute
The wild ancestor of the carrot comes from Iran. Today, however, they are found in Europe, North Africa, North America, and Asia. Eaten raw or cooked, it is mainly the root that is used in cooking, while the essential oil is obtained from the plant's seeds. Carrot seeds are flat and green.
