Jojoba wax, better known as jojoba oil, is derived from the seeds of the desert shrub Simmondsia Chinensis, belonging to the Simmondsiaceae family. This tree grows in arid environments and can reach heights of up to 2.50 metres. It has very long roots that can reach depths of up to 30m, drawing moisture from deep down in the soil. Its thick, oval leaves are reminiscent of those of the olive tree and can grow to 30 metres or more. Its pale green or yellow flowers are arranged in clusters. The fruit is a capsule.
